I recently purchased a MF 230 deisel for finish mowing/bushhogging and general landscaping. I place the tractor around an 85 but am not sure of it's actual date. Can anyone tell me more about the tractor? The serial number is 9A 277657. Purchase price was 7K with a 6foot Woods mower attached. Email at thilborn@greaterbaynet.com.

According to tractortips, which usually is pretty good, 230's were made 76-83. They have 34.5 PTO HP and live PTO. The serial number indicates the tractor was made fairly late in '77.

Do you know what the serial number structure is for Massey Ferguson's? Specifically how do you determine the date of manufacture?

I know very little about tractors, but will be going to look at a diesel MF 230 tomorrow w/~950 hrs, and serveral attachments (post hole digger, 6ft disc, 6ft shredder. ....
